Fewer naturalizations in Germany due to Brexit and Corona

A good half of this decrease is due to the reduced number of British citizens being naturalized, the Wiesbaden statisticians reported on Wednesday: In 2020 only 4900 British citizens were naturalized, 66 percent fewer than in 2019.

According to statisticians, the general decline also reflects the fact that in the year the corona pandemic broke out, the responsible authorities sometimes had to wait longer and fewer applications could be processed.
