The festival’s slogan “There is always time” (or “Time is always time”). expands LIGe Treimane, head of RIGA IFF: “I want to believe that nothing is too early or too late, everything is on time, because time is endless. Time is a cause and time is a promise – a time that does not wait and a time that does not pass. Time is endless and time is always too short. Such a paradoxical law of timelessness.
Time for cinema. Time for conversation. Time to wake up. Time is running out. Time goes. Time goes.
Time may be empty and may be full. Cinema can stop, slow down, shift time, it can tell and explain time, but never empty it. “
The design artists of the festival, trying to visualize time, have given it the outline of an uneven circle – everything that happens in it merges, paints in the most intense shades, slides over the edges and washes away white.
In October, RIGA IFF spectators will have the opportunity to see the award-winning Madah Mikelsen (Another Round) atypical role in the opening film of this year’s Rotterdam Film Festival Fair trial horsemen (Riders of Justice), while with a strong performance in the Beno Jacques film Suzanna Andlere will be delighted by French cinema living legend, actress and musician Charlotte Gainesbury. The festival will usually offer an impressive selection of favorites from Class A film festivals. As part of it, we will offer to meet the favorite of the Berlin Film Festival, the film by Dominik Count Fabians or a walk with dogs (Fabian or The Walk to the Dogs) and with Latvia, Mistrus Media studio, co-produced feature film In natural light (Natural light), which received the award for best directing in Berlin. Ibid The best film of the year – just as modest for Latvia (VFS Films) co-produced documentary I was born Rosellini (The Rossellinis) published edition Rolling Stone. The film, which had its international premiere at last year’s Venice Film Festival, will introduce the retrospective program of this year’s festival, which will look at the films of the important Roselini clan for many decades.
On June 2, the festival subscription will be on sale for a limited time, which is not only a favorite gift of buyers, but also a “key” to absolutely all festival screenings and the opportunity to financially support the process of creating RIGA IFF. The festival is planned in an already tested format – in person in Riga cinemas and online throughout Latvia.
The films currently announced are only a small part of the festival program, which will be regularly supplemented with other high-quality films until October.
