A protest in the center of Wrocław over the Turów mine. Buses with miners are on their way

Today at 1 p.m., trade unions are organizing a demonstration at the representation and information point of the European Union in Wrocław at Widok Street. As we learn, there are several buses with employees of the Turów mine from Bogatynia on it.

– It is supposed to be a spontaneous demonstration – Kazimierz Kimso, the leader of the Lower Silesian “Solidarity”, tells us. Of course, it is supposed to be a protest against the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union, which last week ordered the suspension of lignite mining.

This is the result of a complaint from the Czech side. The mining in the Turów opencast mine causes ecological problems for our southern neighbors. First of all, the decrease in the groundwater level.

The Czech government submitted a complaint to the CJEU, which issued a decision to suspend production pending the examination of the complaint. Yesterday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that urgent talks with the Czechs on an amicable solution to the dispute were underway. It was even reported that the Czech Republic would withdraw the lawsuit from the tribunal, although the Czech authorities denied this information.
