That’s how often Silva would have been the top scorer
The time had come on matchday 33. Eintracht striker André Silva outdid Schalke club legend Bernd Hölzenbein in the 3: 4 defeat.
The world champion’s 26-goal record lasted 44 years. But then came Silva: 25 years old, Portuguese, Cristiano Ronaldo as a role model. Whether with left, right, head or from the penalty spot: Silva embodied international class from the first to the last match day. (Service: Bundesliga table)

28 goals this season mean second place behind Lewandowski
At the 3-1 win against SC Freiburg he was the sole attacker again and swirled the Breisgauer mightily upside down. After just three minutes Silva hit the post, in the 63rd minute he showed himself to be nervous from the point as usual. The international striker, who will take part in the European Championship, converted all seven penalties this season – outstanding. (The game for reading in the ticker)
28 goals this season mean second place in the top scorer list – far behind Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski (41 goals), but ahead of the strong BVB attacker Erling Haaland (27). With this fabulous record, Silva would have been the top scorer in 43 of 58 seasons.
Impressive: From 1981 to 2011 nobody would have trumped him!

Silva is “proud and happy”
While the rest of the Eintracht team buckled in the final spurt and gambled away the Champions League, Silva remained stable until the end. (Service: Results and schedule)
Twelve first round hits followed 16 (!) In the back series, he tied seven double packs. After the final whistle, Silva was happy: “I’m proud and happy. It wasn’t that easy to break the record. I would like to thank my teammates for that.”
Silva’s time in Frankfurt will most likely end after two years this summer. Atlético Madrid and other teams have already put out feelers for him. Eintracht will be able to look forward to a sum of 30 million euros or more. But if an attacker hits 44 times in 70 competitive games and assists 15 times, then he can no longer be held by Hessen despite the contract that runs until 2023.

Hütter raves about Silva at the end
The outgoing trainer Adi Hütter was there SPORT1 enthusiastic: “Two days ago we expressed our gratitude to each other in a long conversation for two great years. André scored 1-0 nine times and again showed his class against Freiburg.”
Is Silva the best striker he has ever trained? “André is at least one of the best strikers I’ve trained. We also had Sébastien Haller, Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic. But 28 goals from Silva are impressive.” Eintracht Frankfurt can be “proud” of this impressive record.
