Los Angeles (AP) – “Baby Driver” director Edgar Wright <!––> (47) knows how to scare people with a short trailer for his new film “Last Night in Soho”.
The Briton produced the first video clip for the psychological thriller starring Anya Taylor-Joy <!––> (25, “The Queen’s Gambit”), Thomasin McKenzie (20, “Jojo Rabbit”) and Matt Smith (38, “Doctor Who”) online. Wright wrote that he couldn’t wait to show the film in theaters in October. Because of the corona pandemic, the film launch planned for 2020 had been postponed last year.
The film is set in England in the 1960s. A young girl (McKenzie) is transported back in time to the music and fashion scene in the London borough of Soho, where she meets her idol, a mysterious singer (Taylor-Joy). In the trailer, Taylor-Joy sings the earlier pop hit “Downtown” with a hypnotic voice to scary scenes with knives, murders and spooks.
The Briton Wright, who became famous for the zombie comedy “Shaun of the Dead” and the cop thriller “Hot Fuzz – Two deviated professionals”, recently brought Ansel Elgort in front of the camera for the gangster film “Baby Driver” (2017) .
