“In two weeks I lost my father, my mother and my grandfather.” The same story repeats itself throughout Brazil. Thousands of children without parents due to covid-19. They are the orphans of the pandemic, victims of an invisible tragedy still unanswered by public bodies.

At least 45,000 children and adolescents have been left without their two parents during the pandemic, according to preliminary calculations by the Institute for Applied Economic Research in Brazil.
