Acceleration to a hundred in 1.1 seconds? The Tesla Roadster has to handle this thanks to auxiliary nozzles

The second-generation Tesla Roadster was introduced as a concept more than three years ago. Back then, there was speculation about coming to market in 2020, today we know that this did not happen; now there is speculation about the year 2022. The fact that the car is not in the world, but does not prevent Elon Musk from making bold statements about the car’s capabilities.

The latest is that the acceleration from zero to the “American hundred” of 60 mph (97 km / h) should be in 1.1 seconds – if the customer chooses the optional SpaceX booster rockets.

The concept of the next roadster appeared with this number of accelerations in the Petersen Automobile Museum, renowned the American Automobile Gallery. The value got on Twitter, where Elon Musk responded that it was indeed true.

However, those auxiliary rockets are not meant to be real rockets that Musk’s other company, SpaceX, uses to travel into space. According to the InsideEVs website, these should be air nozzles, located behind the rear registration plate. These, with the help of compressed air, will help the car to a stunning acceleration. Maybe literally – Musk continues on Twitter to try that “it’s probably not wise for people with a medical condition”.

Of course, those 1.1 seconds have not yet been confirmed by any independent source. Also, it is uncertain whether US or European authorities will allow the use of air nozzles to accelerate the car. Without their use, the acceleration is supposed to be from 0 to 60 mph 1.9 seconds, which would still be the best value in the world of road cars.
