Sebastian Giefing made a thick note of the European Youth Championships in Rome at the end of July. The Sankt Martiner store is currently subordinating everything to this short-term goal. Most recently, the ASV Stockerau athlete competed in the limit competitions in Südstadt and Graz. There were medals for Basti there, but no limit. “It is very close to the 200 meter butterfly. Only a hundredth is missing, ”says mother Brigitte. However, only two swimmers per country are allowed to compete in one discipline at the major international youth events. “Unfortunately, two others have already reached the limit, so it won’t work out unless one fails,” said Giefing.
There are still chances over the 400 meter crawl (“there is not much missing”) and the 1,500 meter crawl, where the qualification is currently even more difficult. The next opportunities to break the time limits for the major events will be on the international stage at the end of May. Basti attacks in the metropolises of Prague and Barcelona.
