Dresden: Hundreds celebrated without a gap – street party despite Corona! | Regional

Dresden – The first weekend after the federal emergency brake was lifted in Dresden – curfew and alcohol ban gone, the party without a gap at the so-called “Assi-Eck” in Dresden Neustadt is about to start.

Because teenagers and young adults get loudly drunk with cheap beer here at the weekend, the vernacular calls the intersection of Görlitzerstrasse and Louisenstrasse “Assi-Eck”.

And so hundreds celebrated close together. Distance, masks, a maximum of two households? No matter! A Neustadt innkeeper commented sarcastically on the Internet: “People are sensible and show solidarity”.

So many celebrated on Saturday night that the transport companies had to divert tram line 13. The police moved in with 41 officers, repeatedly asking to keep your distance and to keep the road clear.

But the mood of the bottle drinkers threatened to change. “In the interests of de-escalation, we decided not to evacuate,” said police spokesman Thomas Geithner (47).

In 2020 alone there were 17 police operations with 190 criminal charges. That should actually be different this year. The city administration is planning the deployment of “mediator teams”, which should have a de-escalating effect from Monday to Thursday, from 6 pm to 3 am.
