Catalan police are investigating the death of a man believed to have been trapped inside a large dinosaur statue while trying to retrieve his mobile phone.
Police were alerted Saturday after a father and his son noticed an odor emanating from the dinosaur statue.

– We found the body of a man inside the leg of this dinosaur statue. The man entered the statue and was captured. It looks like he’s trying to retrieve a cell phone, which he lost. It seems that he first got into the statue head and did not get out.

The fire service is said to have assisted the police in getting the man out.
– We are still waiting for the result from the autopsy, so we do not know how long he was in there, but it seems that he was there for a couple of days, the spokeswoman continued to the newspaper.
Reported missing
The spokeswoman further emphasizes that the death is not being investigated as a suspicious death.
According to local media, the man was reported missing by his family a few hours before he was found dead.
