Corona prevented the Pentecost pilgrimage of the “Legio Mariae” last year. Also this year it was canceled. Five young girls from Markt Indersdorf set out anyway. In Schnaitsee there was a strengthening of the path.
Schnaitsee – For well over 60 years the “Legio Mariae” has been carrying out their Whitsun pilgrimage to Altötting on foot. Unfortunately, the pilgrimage, in which more than 600 believers took part, had to be canceled in 2020 and this year as well.
But five young girls from Markt Indersdorf did not let that stop them and set out on foot in Vaterstetten on the Saturday before Pentecost in the early morning. The first overnight stop was like in all years before in Wasserburg. On Pentecost Sunday, the small group of pilgrims made a lunch break in Schnaitsee again this year.

In the “Taverna Aegean” they got their food “to go” and on the church forecourt they took the refreshment they deserved.
“This pilgrimage is simply part of our work and we wanted to keep it exactly as it was when we were out with over 600 like-minded people,” say the young pilgrims in an interview with the OVB home newspapers. This also included a visit to the parish church “Maria Himmelfahrt”. Here, where on other years the church was bursting at the seams as part of the pilgrimage service, the girls took part in the silent adoration.
In an interview with the newspaper, the group confirmed that everywhere they passed, the people were very friendly and always helpful. Strengthened by food and prayer, the next stage led to an overnight stay in Garching before moving into Altötting on Whit Monday.
