The 2020/21 season is history. After the last game of the season against 1. FC Nürnberg it was time to say goodbye.
Goodbye to six players
Around 45 minutes after the final whistle, the 96 team met again in the HDI Arena. Everyone knew: In the constellation, everyone involved would meet for the last time. Six players were bid farewell to sports director Gerhard Zuber and captain Dominik Kaiser in the presence of 96 managing director Martin Kind: loan players Jaka Bijol and Kingsley Schindler, who will return to CSKA Moscow and 1. FC Cologne, respectively, and Genki Haraguchi , Josip Elez, Marlon Sündermann and Niklas Tarnat, whose contracts at Hannover 96 expire. As in previous years, they all received individually designed collages with photo memories from their time with the Reds. With Haraguchi and Elez, the two longest-serving departures then had their say in the 96TV episode of the 2020/21 season streamed live via YouTube and Facebook.
The contracts of Timo Hübers and Michael Ratajczak also end after this season, but they were not adopted. 96 is still negotiating an extension of the professional contract with Hübers, and talks are ongoing with Ratajczak about the post of goalkeeping coach.
Farewell to Kocak, Umar, Saric and Moßmann
Four members of the coaching team will also leave Hannover 96 this summer. Head coach Kenan Kocak, his assistants Serhat Umar and Asif Saric as well as goalkeeping coach Rolf Moßmann are bid farewell to Martin Kind. Of course, they also receive a framed collage as a souvenir.
We do not want to miss at this point to thank everyone who is moving on and leaving Hannover 96 for their commitment in what is certainly a difficult season!
Our team is now on summer vacation until June 20th. Then the preparations for the 2021/22 season will start under the new head coach Jan Zimmermann.
