SOLO, KOMPAS.TV – Indonesian people can again witness the Total Lunar Eclipse (GBT) or well-known as Super Blood Moon on May 26, 2021.
R Jamroni, Observatory Staff of the Center for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BBMKG) Region IV Makassar, explained the total lunar eclipse.
“Phenomenon Blood Moon this only occurs when the phase of the moon is full and experiences a Total Lunar Eclipse (GBT) where the earth moves between the moon and the sun and is in a straight line position, “wrote Jamroni, quoted from bmkg.go.id.

At the start of the eclipse, the moon will appear bigger and brighter. This is because the moon is closest to the earth. This phenomenon is Supermoon.
Then, the moon will appear red, like copper because Earth’s atmosphere refracts sunlight. The phenomenon of the moon turning red during a total eclipse is referred to as Blood Moon.
“Phenomenon Super Blood Moon this is the result of long light waves coming from the earth that make the moon appear red, “explained Jamroni.
