It is a slightly measured, but apparently relatively calm princess Sheikha Latifa, who has been pictured with two other women in what is probably a shopping mall in Dubai.
The princess has not been seen in public or heard from for many months.
It is the other two women who have posted the picture, which according to Latifa’s support group in England appears to be real, but this has not been confirmed.
Support group: Positive development
We can confirm that there have been several potentially important and positive development features in the campaign, writes David Haigh in a statement.
He is one of the founders of the Free-Latifa campaign, which for several years has tried to get Sheikha Latifa out of what it believes is a mixture of house arrest and imprisonment in Dubai.
He further writes that they will not comment further on the case at this time.
According to BBC friends of Latifa have confirmed that it really is Sheikha Latifa who is in the picture, but that otherwise it was not possible to verify the authenticity of the picture or when it was taken.
It was the BBC that in February published what they said was a video that Sheikha Latifa had recorded in secret.
There she says that she is being held hostage in a house in Dubai and that it was only by sneaking into a toilet that she could record the video message.
Tried to escape in a small boat
Latifa, or Latifa Bint Mohammed al-Maktoum as her full name is, became world famous when she in 2018 in a small boat tried to flee from the United Arab Emirates to India.
After a week in open waters, the boat was ordered by commandos and Latifa was returned to his homeland.
She is one of many children of 71-year-old Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, who in practice has ruled Dubai for almost 25 years.
According to the BBC, the picture that has now been published was taken at a large shopping center in Dubai known as Moe.
The advertisement for a film in the background may indicate that the picture was taken during May. The photo was posted on Instagram on May 20.
