The sexual violence against children increased throughout the pandemic by the coronavirus, because during the confinement, the minors had to live longer with their aggressors, so sadly the playwrights have had to stage this tragedy to make it visible.
This is the case of the work Tili Tili Bom, by the playwright Alan Blasco, who performs at the Orientación theater of the Centro Cultural del Bosque, this work ensures its creator, meets the objective of alerting adults of great responsibility they have, by caring for and listening to minors who ask for help.
Why is it necessary to write and bring this problem to the theater?
The most convenient thing would be for this sexual violence towards children to be less and less frequent, to be eradicated, but since that does not happen, the theater must address the issue of sexual violence to which girls and boys are subjected. It is a very painful issue but unfortunately it is still current, so it is pertinent to make it visible and more at this time when in our country there is domestic abuse, child abuse of our children was on the rise.
I did not want to make a protest theater but to tell about this strong problem that is sexual abuse through a story, through games.
How did you manage to tell the story?
I took a lot of the metaphor, the children’s story and the poetry, but also in complicity with Víctor Carpinteiro, we relied on the surrealist painting of Leticia Tarragó. What I did was observe the children, that was my great work tool to tell this tragedy from the innocence of a child, which made me go back to my childhood, so in this work there is a lot of biographical material, especially for the way I felt as a child.
What is the plot that the audience will see on stage?
In Tili Tili Bom we see two twin boys who plan the perfect potion to murder their parents, influenced by an imaginary friend they make the potion one in a recreational way, like a game from innocence and while they are preparing it, the spectators go deciphering, they learn about the abuses to which these little ones are subjected, which present pathological damage due to the entire experience and the emotional burden that affects them due to the sexual abuse to which they have been subjected, in a dysfunctional and violent intra-family environment , what generates negative emotions, so their impulse or defense method to quench that pain, is to end the life of their parents.
Is it a drama or a thriller?
It is rare to put this play in a conventional genre, it is difficult, what I would say is that it is a drama at the end, but it is also a thriller because there are many elements that are very gloomy, that do give horror and terror. Although thanks to the direction of Víctor Carpinteiro a very careful styling is achieved and that is what becomes a farce, from the fact that the actors are adults and not children, which then leads us towards the farce.
The play Tili Tili Bom, produced by the Círculo Teatral company, will offer performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 6:00 p.m., until May 30 at the Orientación del Teatro Forest Cultural Center.
