Spotify now lets you download content to your Apple Watch
Spotify is finally rolling out a new feature that lets you download music and podcasts to your Apple Watch, so you can listen without an iPhone. In an article on For the Record , Spotify announced that the feature will begin rolling out on May 21 and over the next several weeks.
With the new feature, Spotify users will now see an option to download playlists, albums, and podcasts to their Apple Watch in the Options tab. Spotify has made it clear that it wants to create a more mobile-friendly option for listeners.
Users could previously control playback from the Spotify app on Apple Watch, but will now be able to download music there. Once the music is downloaded to Apple Watch, users can listen to it without an internet connection or without a paired iPhone nearby.
Apple Music listeners have been able to do this since the Apple Watch first introduced the feature, and Spotify listeners have been left behind. It’s great to see that Spotify has caught up with the rival feature and is expanding the way it allows users to listen to music.
