Slovaks will no longer need a test for Germany, Czechs still will

However, it is necessary to count on a transitional period in the next ten days, so Slovaks will not receive full benefits until June. In contrast, Britain returns to the list of coronavirus mutation regions. The new assessment was announced on Friday evening by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), which manages the epidemic list.

The condition for removal from the German list of epidemically risky countries is that the seven-day average of new cases falls below 50 per 100,000 inhabitants and remains there for at least two weeks. According to the Corona-in-Zahlen portal, Slovakia fell below this limit on May 9. According to Corona-in-Zahlen, the seven-day average in Slovakia is now 27.9.

The Czech Republic could also be removed from the German list of risk areas in 14 days, where, according to the Czech Ministry of Health, the seven-day average is now 53. If the rate of decline in infection in the Czech Republic continues at the current pace, such a outlook is realistic.

Now the Czechs must have a test when traveling to Germany. The exceptions are those who have suffered from the disease, have completed vaccinations, or are just passing through the country. Countries have also provided exemptions for short stays. For longer stays, those who do not fall into a number of other exceptions must be quarantined.

Britain has been offended

In addition to Slovakia, Germany has also removed Finland, San Marino, Romania, the Spanish Autonomous Communities of Extremadura and Asturias, the Irish region of Midland and Jamaica from the list of epidemically risky areas. From Sunday, Germany will also not consider Slovenia or Croatia as high-risk, these countries will now only be at risk. For trips to Germany, this will mean the possibility to have a test taken only after arrival, not before crossing the border.

Britain, on the other hand, returns to the list of areas with coronavirus mutations due to the occurrence of the so-called Indian coronavirus mutation. This strictest assessment means that even the fully vaccinated or those who have already undergone covid-19 cannot travel freely from Britain to Germany. Without exception, a two-week quarantine will be mandatory, which cannot be shortened even by an additional test.
