Citing Healthline, there are four types food which must be avoided so that uric acid does not increase. First, namely meat and organs. In this case organ meats include liver, kidney, brain, tongue, and tripe. Some of these foods are considered to have high purines.
These types of foods should be avoided or limited to a maximum of four ounces per day. In addition, meat that can be consumed normally are chicken, duck, goose, rabbit, lamb and veal.
Second, namely seafood because it is a source of purines. Shellfish, sardines and mekerel are the seafood most abstinence from gout sufferers. While the types of fish that should also be avoided are tuna, cod, salmon and snapper because they contain high enough purines.
Third, gout sufferers should limit foods with whole grains such as wheat and oatmeal. This refers to a study in 2016 which showed that reducing the glycemic index could help lower uric acid levels. In this case, foods with a high glycemic index include white bread, pasta, and white rice.
So, it is recommended to reduce the consumption of these foods so that uric acid levels do not increase.
Lastly, namely sugar. If you eat too much food with high refined sugar, it can worsen gout symptoms such as diabetes and obesity. So, it’s best to avoid high-sugar foods and drinks such as sodas and other products sweetened using high-fructose corn syrup.
