Over the long weekend of Pentecost, many people are drawn to the campsites in Baden-Württemberg. The chairman of the camping company warns: spontaneous campers should rather stay at home.

Stuttgart – The trend towards traveling with tents and caravans has increased during the corona pandemic. The campsites in Baden-Württemberg are currently also noticing this, as they are almost completely booked out on the upcoming Pentecost weekend. “There are an unbelievable number of booking requests coming in,” said Kurt Bonath, the state chairman of the Association of Camping Entrepreneurs in Baden-Württemberg German press agency (dpa). Since the relaxation of the Corona requirements, significantly more people want to take a vacation in the association’s 138 seats.

Because of the threat of overcrowding, Kurt Bonath advises spontaneous people not to drive to the campsites spontaneously. The ADAC also recommends booking first and then driving off. “Anyone who sets off without reserving a space will no longer find a place and have to go back home,” warns Uwe Freers, Managing Director of ADAC Camping.

Campsites in Baden-Württemberg: Non-vaccinated people have to present a negative rapid test every three days

The campsites are not yet open everywhere in Baden-Württemberg. However, vacation is allowed in all urban and rural districts in which the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is below 100 for five days in a row. Campers are currently allowed to go on holiday in the Baden parts of the country – including the districts of Ortenau, Emmendingen and Rastatt. Campsites in the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Lake Constance and Constance are also allowed to receive visitors again.

A vaccination or convalescent card or a negative rapid test upon arrival is usually required to stay at the campsites. According to the Corona Ordinance, guests who have neither been vaccinated nor recovered must also present a negative rapid test every three days. Anyone planning a vacation should find out about the rules at the location in advance.

Holidays at home are increasingly popular with Baden-Württemberg residents – also last year

Holidays at home were already very popular last year. Because of the corona virus in Baden-Württemberg, many people shied away from traveling abroad. The Black Forest Nature Park, for example, was overrun by crowds and visitors also flocked to local bathing lakes.
