Anyone who ever gave birth to a person with her own body knows that almost everything is different afterwards. From your body to your head to your relationship and how you view life. But as intensively as we are guided during pregnancy, so brief is the help afterwards. That is why Xaviera Plooij and Laurens Mischner recently launched ‘Back to You’, a book and a program about postnatal recovery. “It will be time to be honest about it.”

Xaviera Plooij is the daughter of Frans Plooij and Hetty van de Rijt. In 1992 they wrote ‘Oops, I’m growing’. This book has already saved millions of parents from the beginner’s despair with a clear explanation of their child’s developmental leaps. Xaviera later used her background in marketing and communication to make ‘Oops, I’m growing’ a worldwide success. She expanded the brand with translations, new titles and apps. The latest title, ‘Back to You’, is the answer to the question: but what about the mother? Xaviera: “Since Eva, women who have just given birth have been sent into the world without assistance. After nine months we are really let down. ” Meanwhile, women experience physical and mental changes that are sometimes not even associated with motherhood. Incontinence, for example, and less strong orgasms, hernias, hair loss, but also a different brain structure and a different view of the world.
