Two migrant women and a man have died after the overturning of a canoe off the coast of Tenerife. This is the group of seven people – out of a total of fifty – who were rescued by a fishing boat and transferred to the Muelle del Porís (Arico) where they were treated by medical personnel.
The rest were rescued by a Maritime Rescue boat and headed to the Los Cristianos Pier where the emergency device awaits them.
The migrants, all of sub-Saharan origin, were located by local fishermen. The rescue operation is currently formed by the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group, by 3 Maritime Rescue boats and, in addition, private boats in the area have joined. At the moment, no deaths have been confirmed. Everything has been triggered after the warning of the crew of the fishing vessel “El Fari”, who sighted the cayuco at around 8.35 am in front of the Porís de Abona lighthouse.
