Raserin convicted by her own Instagram posts

Location: Leipzig and the surrounding area

Time: Between March 4th, 2021 to April 25th, 2021

The police are investigating online and offline. This was also the case at the beginning of March 2021, when police officers became aware of a post on Instagram. A driver filmed herself driving through the Sellerhausen-Stünz district of Leipzig at 130 km / h and engaging in a prohibited motor vehicle race with the driver of a Lotus Evora and the driver of a Mercedes E 63 AMG 4MATIC. Since she also filmed herself at a gas station near Leipzig Airport, thanks to the surveillance cameras there, the license plate number for her Mercedes AMG C 43 could be determined. The police immediately secured the Instagram videos and the video footage of the petrol station, which also showed the faces of the other drivers in the motor vehicle race.

The Leipzig public prosecutor’s office was informed in advance and it was suggested that the smartphone be confiscated if the woman was discovered.

The suspect continued to film herself regularly with her smartphone and used it to document her own crimes and administrative offenses. This was also the case when she drove on the autobahn at more than 270 km / h. On none of these trips did she wear the mandatory seat belt.

At the end of March 2021, she filmed herself again on a country road in Saxony-Anhalt, which she was driving at around 200 km / h instead of the permitted 100 km / h. In the next town she filmed herself in town at almost 110 km / h. Police officers were later able to identify the highway (B 183) and the village (Schwemsal) and thus initiate further investigative proceedings.

On April 25, 2021, the officials who supervised the case noticed the suspect’s driving Mercedes AMG C 43 in the Leipzig city area. During the traffic control it turned out that the 23-year-old driver (Russian) is the suspect of the illegal motor vehicle races. After consulting with the on-call prosecutor, her driver’s license, which was provisionally revoked on April 13, 2021 but not yet given, and her smartphone were confiscated. The suspect now has to answer for driving without a license, a violation of the compulsory insurance law and several prohibited motor vehicle races. In addition, a preliminary investigation into resistance against law enforcement officers was initiated because she did not want to give her smartphone during the traffic control and defended herself during the search.

The smartphone is being evaluated and further investigations are ongoing. (mp)
