“I dream of the day when we’re the same, when there is no black or white”: With his profound lyrics, Remscheid rapper Noah Gordon not only inspires his fans, but also the jury of this year’s Solingen school rock festival. His song “Article 1” won second place in the jury award at the digital song contest in April. This month will also be exciting for the 18-year-old. Tomorrow, May 21st, his new album “Statements” will be released.

Noah Gordon has been actively making music for four years. It all started in the Christian community Kultschock in Remscheid. There he performed his own songs together with a team. “We have always been able to inspire people with our music,” recalls Noah Gordon. Gradually, from 2018 onwards, he also wrote songs that also dealt with other topics. The young Remscheider is inspired by many things, especially his life. Noah Gordon: “The ups and downs of my life, the defeats, the losses and emotions shape my music to what it is today.” This was also the case with the first song he recorded in 2019. He dedicated this to his father, who had died shortly before.

The 18-year-old does not want to conform to the stereotypical image of the classic rapper. “I am a musician. I do what the beat, which found me at the right moment, tells me, ”explains Noah Gordon. Music is a safe place for him. He explains that he can be free and process what moves him. “Music helps me through crises and builds me up again,” says Noah Gordon.

The second place in the song contest is not the first success for the Remscheider. Before that, he was able to perform on various stages in the region such as the U-Club and the Uni-Halle in Wuppertal. It has also been heard on the radio, and it soon reached 100,000 streams on the Spotify streaming platform. “It continues with an album of mine”, reports the Remscheid. Starting tomorrow, May 21st, “Statements” will appear on Spotify.

Since the school rock festival under the motto “free, equal and loud” could not take place in attendance this year, a digital song contest was called. 20 young artists from Solingen and Remscheid applied. The jury, consisting of the musicians Daniele Puccia, Jannik Föste and Luisa Skrabic, awarded three of them with a prize and two with the audience award.
