United States of America strongly criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip’s latest statement Erdogan against citizens Jewish.
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said Erdogan’s statement described an anti-Semitic stance.
“We urge President Erdogan and other Turkish leaders to refrain from inflammatory comments that could provoke further violence,” Price said in a statement on Tuesday (18/5).
“Such anti-Semitic language is unacceptable anywhere,” he said.
Quoted ReutersPrice did not specify which Erdogan’s remarks the US considered was full of anti-Semitic sentiment. The US Department of State did not immediately respond to a request for clarification on Price’s statement.
However, Erdogan has indeed become one of the leaders of a Muslim-majority country who has been outspoken in criticizing Israel, especially when fighting has erupted again on the border of the Gaza Strip in recent times.
Erdogan even called Israel a “state of terror” in responding to the attitude of the Israeli authorities who fired rubber bullets at Palestinians in Jerusalem.
In a speech on national television on Monday, Erdogan also insinuated that Western countries, which he thinks are just sitting pretty, cannot do anything to restrain Israel, which continues to attack Gaza.
Erdogan even said US President Joe Biden’s hands were “full of blood” for supporting Israel by recently approving arms sales to the Zionist state.
According to Erdogan, Biden has made history with bloody hands because he is considered to have tolerated Israeli violence against Palestine.
“You (Biden) are writing history with bloody hands. Today we saw Biden’s signature on arms sales to Israel,” Erdogan said.
“The Palestinian territories are flooded with persecution, suffering and blood, like many other areas that lost peace with the end of the Ottomans. And you (Biden) supported it,” Erdogan said.
