After a flash flood watch was issued for the entire Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday morning, cities announced they will distribute sandbags to residents.
This list will be updated throughout the day as Channel 5 News gets new information.

Below are the sandbag distribution sites for each district. The enclosures encourage residents to bring a shovel and gloves in case they need to fill their own bags.

City of Mercedes

There will be a limit of 4 sandbags per resident and 6 per business. Proof of San Juan residency with photo ID or utility bill is required.
Sullivan City
Sandbags will be offered at the Sullivan City Fire Station while supplies last to help residents prepare for expected weather.
Feel free to stop by the station at 500 S. Cenizo Dr. to pick up your bags.

City of Weslaco

In preparation for additional rains, the City of Weslaco has mobilized crews even at our sandbag distribution locations. The location will open at 1 pm If you visit the self-service place, please bring a shovel. Bags and sand will be provided. If you are going through the drive-thru, you will not need to fill your own sandbags, as our teams have pre-filled them for your convenience. Six bags will be provided to you. Proof of residency in the City of Weslaco is required.
Elsa City
Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2021

In preparation for the potential for heavy rain, the city of Elsa will begin distributing sandbags on Tuesday at 3 p.m. If you visit the self-service site, officials ask you to bring a shovel. Bags and sand will be provided. Proof of residency in the City of Elsa will be required. Limit of 4 bags per residence and 6 per business.
City of Mission
Date: Tuesday, May 18, 2021
Time: 3 pm to 8 pm
Locations:
• Autocomplete – Parque de los Leones located at 1500 Kika de la Garza Loop
• Self-filling – Fire Station located at 906 Canal
• Autocompletar – Sharyland High School ubicada en 1216 North Shary Road
Sandbag stations will reopen from 7:30 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, May 18. Sandbag distribution is for Mission residents only. A utility bill or photo ID is required. Clients are asked to bring their own paddles and gloves to the sites if possible.
Assistance will be available only to elderly residents and citizens with special needs.
