The Norwegian Farmers’ Association writes in one press release.
– The negotiating committee in the Norwegian Farmers’ Association is now going public with our original demand. We do this to avoid further speculation, says Lars Petter Bartnes, leader of the Norwegian Farmers’ Association.
He also asks members to look up, and warns against internal divisions between the Farmers’ Association and the Norwegian Farmers’ and Smallholders’ Association, writes Nations.
– Now it is important to look ahead, we have more important battles to fight than to pit the professional teams against each other, says the farmer team leader.
The requirement from Bondelaget was close to what ended up being agriculture’s common claim, of NOK 2.114 billion and an investment package of NOK 450 million. Anonymous sources in the Norwegian Farmers’ and Smallholders’ Association have claimed to Aftenposten that the Farmers’ Association’s claims were as low as 1.2 billion.
The government’s offer was NOK 960 million. The negotiations ended with a break on May 6, before they had even begun. The agricultural settlement will be considered in the Storting on 16 June.
