Andreas Haukeland reached the top and is in Saturday’s final.
– It is the biggest I have ever experienced. Finished. Dot. Thanks.
This is how TIX answers questions from NRK Kveldsnytt about what it was like to be called up as the first country to advance to the final.
– For once. Having worked uphill ever since I started music. Then the whole of Norway is gathered behind me, while I am here in the Netherlands during a pandemic, when it really should not have been possible at all. And then we’ve done it. And I know that song means so much to so many, TIX continues.

– Lost the monitors in the ear
– I have no idea how I did it. I have not seen the show yet. But I lost the monitors in my ear along the way. And on the last chorus I could hear the whole audience in the Netherlands singing along to the song, and that is one of the biggest things I have experienced, says TIX about his own efforts.
TIX was on stage as the ninth in a row of a total of 16 countries that fought for one of the total of 10 places in the final that kicks off on Saturday.
– Pretty good to be dice roll 1?
With fierce pyrotechnics, which rounded off the show for TIX’s part, Norway and Andreas Haukeland (28), as he is actually called, convinced the jury and the TV viewers that Norway is worthy of a place in the final.
– It’s pretty good to be dice roll 1, isn ‘t it? says the final-ready artist to NRK, with a clear reference to some Norwegian music critics.

Koronautbrudd
It has aroused great excitement around this year’s Eurovision semi-finals. Seven days before the big final on Saturday, Eurovision came out with one press release that a person in the Polish delegation had tested positive for a corona test.
The next day it became known that another corona outbreak had been discovered. That time in the Icelandic delegation. The Polish and Icelandic contributions thus ended up in quarantine pending a PCR test.
On Tuesday morning, the PCR result showed negative for Poland, which could finally get ready for the first semi-final round as planned.
The test result for Iceland is expected on Wednesday morning. According to the plan, Iceland will perform in the second semi-final round on Thursday, 20 May.
Feels safe
Despite several corona outbreaks in recent days, however, TIX feels confident that the infection control routines in Rotterdam are working. IN an interview with NTB earlier this week tells the artist about a scheme where the messages often go in: “Go there”, “Stay away from here a bit” and “Do not touch anything”.
All artists, delegation members and also members of the press must undergo a new corona test every 48 hours, and on Monday afternoon it was time for new tests for TIX.
– It’s a bit like a camp school or a kindergarten. We are escorted around, the artist told NTB and continued:
– This feels like the safest place I’ve ever been. And I really appreciate that people treat me like a kindergarten child. I think it’s okay. I fly around anyway, then someone else can stop me and set boundaries.
Hard ride
However, it is not just infection control rules and corona outbreaks that have made headlines ahead of this year’s Eurovision final.
Just before the first semi-final round on Tuesday night, Sweden experienced a strong storm of criticism.

With the song “Voices” by the artist Tusse Chiza has the charge for the popular singing competition not gone completely painlessly for our neighboring country. Recently the contribution received a hate storm various forums on the internet.
– There is a lot of hatred against Sweden, and I would say that it is only growing, said Eurovision expert William Lee Adams til the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet on Tuesday morning.
“I do not understand why Sweden always does so well. I have never liked their songs », is one of the comments Aftonbladet has found after a deep dive into the comment fields.
“Sweden is always favored by the jury, they do not deserve to go to the final”, reads another comment.
«Oh, so typical … Another generic song from Sweden», writes a third, while a fourth thinks Sweden is «overrated».
Sweden with the artist Tusse is also on to the final, despite the criticism before the semi-final.
The final of the Eurovision Song Contest kicks off on Saturday 22 May at 21.00.
