Six hairs of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain have raised 11,600 euros at an auction in the United States. It is unknown who bought the remarkable merchandise.
According to auction house Iconic Auctions, this is the only rock singer’s hair available in the market. The hair was cut in 1989 by Cobain’s friend Tessa Osbourne, who then kept it. As proof serves a photo of Osbourne cutting off Cobain’s hair.
Entertainment site TMZ has photos of the six hairs. The longest strand is about 6 centimeters long.
‘Historical hair’
The six hairs have already changed hands several times. They were owned for a time by John Reznikoff, who claims to be the greatest collector of “historical hair”. The American also has hair from singer Jimi Hendrix and President Lincoln in his collection.
Other legacies of Cobain, who died in 1994, yielded more in the past. For example, last year a guitar was auctioned for over 5.3 million euros; in 2019, a cardigan came first 300.000 euro of the hand.
