Like so many other sporting events, the New York Marathon was canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic that was hitting the planet. But in 2021, the streets of the Big Apple will open again to runners. Admittedly, the record of 53,627 “finishers” will not be broken since only 33,000 participants will be accepted, but it is already a big step towards a return to normalcy.

Participants who will have to provide a negative test for Covid-19 or a certificate of vaccination. “Canceling the race last year was the right decision. Today we look forward to seeing the runners return to our beautiful city. New Yorkers have made immense efforts to bring down the curves of the disease and it is these efforts that allow us to take this step towards a return to normalcy in our State ”, Governor Andrew Cuomo said.
