Lyutvi Mestan was removed from a hearing in the case of the accident near the village of Zagorsko, in which he is one of the accused.
The reason was exchanged remarks between him and his lawyer Natsko Doychev. Several times before that, the chairman of the panel, Georgi Milushev, made remarks to Mestan and warned him that he would remove him from the meeting.
“I have the right to communicate with my lawyer,” Mestan said as he left the courtroom.
Doychev then said he was unable to continue his defense. He cited the meeting, which lasted more than 6 hours, as a reason. “I can’t communicate with my client and exercise protection,” the lawyer said. He requested that the case be adjourned or that the witness be questioned the next day when a hearing is scheduled again.
“You take a personal attitude towards our country, which is a reason to ask for recusal,” said lawyer Doychev, but did not do so. The court withdraws at a meeting.
