A Belgian family with a consumption of 3,500 kWh – the annual consumption of an average household – had to pay EUR 234 per MWh in January 2021. In France the cost is 202 euros, in the United Kingdom 181 euros and in the Netherlands 171 euros. In Germany, the electricity price varies, depending on the distribution network operator, between 306 and 349 euros.
Despite a slight decrease in the electricity price compared to 2020, Belgians still pay a relatively high amount for their electricity compared to our neighboring countries. Only German families pay more.
