Peter Crouch believes that Tottenham will not be able to attract coach Steven Gerrard to the club, as they did when he was a player.
Spurs they are still on the hunt for a new permanent boss after firing José Mourinho in April. Talking about the appointment has been quite calm, but the London club has suffered several setbacks. Erik Ten Hag has extended his contract at Ajax, while Julian Nagelsmann has reached an agreement with Bayern Munich.
As a result, Lazio’s Simeone Inzaghi has become another potential candidate. Gerrard, who lifted the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers on Saturday, is also on his radar.
However, like Brendan Rodgers at Leicester, who also won the silver medal last weekend, he is still on a potentially exciting trajectory to more success.
As such, Crouch believes that Gerrard will only leave the Rangers to move to Liverpool in the future. In doing so, he will once again snub the Spurs, as Crouch revealed he did as a player.
“I actually played in a youth game when I was 18 for Spurs against Liverpool“Wrote the expert in the Daily Mail.
“Steven played that day and it was ridiculous; it was on another level. It was so good that [Tottenham chairman] Alan Sugar immediately tried to sign him for Tottenham afterwards, but he was a complete non-starter.
“Steven’s stock is on the rise and the way he’s overseen the Rangers revival is outstanding.”
Gerrard not only brought down Celtic this season, he did it without losing a game.
Rangers won 32 and tied six of their matches, finishing with 102 points and a goal difference of 79.
Gerrard does not go to Tottenham
“I hear people talk about the strength of the Scottish League and question the quality, but what I would say is this: if it was so easy, why don’t teams go undefeated every year?” Crouch added.
“He is going to be an outstanding coach and if I were managing Tottenham, I would be absolutely interested in a man of his caliber.
But could you see Steven Gerrard coaching someone in the Premier League other than Liverpool? No, me neither.
“When Steven returns to England, it will be to replace Jurgen Klopp. I really don’t see it any other way.

Klopp’s contract expires in 2024 and he has confirmed that he plans to take a break from football when he leaves.
Meanwhile, the Spurs could still mathematically finish in the top four, but various results would have to go in their favor and their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season remain almost over.
As such, acting boss Ryan Mason’s priority task will be to lead his team to a final in the Europa League.
