Weapon return campaign has started in The Hague, wheelie bins at police stations

A hand in campaign for weapons is starting today in the The Hague region. At all police stations there will be a yellow wheelie bin where people can hand in their blows and stabbing weapons without being prosecuted.

“There are daily violent incidents,” says Jasper van der Duin, project leader of the submission campaign. Broadcaster West. He refers, among other things, to a fatal stabbing at the beginning of this month in The Hague in which a 17 year old boy died. “That indicates the need for our action.”

Van der Duin emphasizes that the success of the action does not depend on the number of weapons that are handed in. “We also hope that young people will talk about it among themselves and that parents will talk about it with their children.”
