Trademark filing S-Foldable discovered at the end of April had already given an idea of the group’s upcoming projects Samsung in the field of smartphones with folding flexible screens.
The term is linked to rumors of the development of a mobile device with a display that folds in three thanks to a double hinge system and which could be unveiled in early 2022.
This new type of screen will be made official and on display for the event. SID 2021 (Society for Information Display) which will be held in the next few days in a virtual edition.
The 7.2-inch display is expected at the heart of a Galaxy Z Fold Tab which will add a new conformation to the brand’s range of foldable screen smartphones.
The firm will also present a 17 inch soft display which can be integrated into a laptop PC with a folding screen, as well as its latest advances in photo sensor placed under the screen, which we hope in its future Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphone.
For its part, LG Display will show its own flexible and transparent screen technologies, in particular for the automotive industry. The group will also demonstrate an 83-inch OLED TV screen and a 48-inch flexible OLED display whose vibration can generate sound without speakers.
This technology has already been deployed in a smaller format on some of its smartphones.
