We talk to Alexander not only about the song. His time is a corner, but he spends part of the day specifically for Maritza as he travels from bTV for a rehearsal at the theater. The last possible window for a few days ahead, as then the shooting of the next episode of “Bulgaria is looking for talent” begins.
– Sasho, thank you for the conversation! First, how did you like your new video with the Argyrov brothers?
– I definitely liked it, it is very light, nice. The color is also well done. It’s interesting. And I like the music. The video became very nice. There is a lot of mood.
– Where did Zhelyazko come from?
– This is my brother Zhelyazko Kadiev, whom I had not seen. It just came from somewhere. You know these DNA tests that relatives around the world use. That’s how we found Zhelyazko. He is a little more special. He helped, for which we thank him. And he said we could talk again if I wanted to work together.
“Iron doesn’t like to talk, he’s a wicked man. Why?”
“He’s a more introverted guy, he’s not used to cameras.” He just says he’s a man who does his job. He comes and helps. We don’t even know what exactly works.
– What is your next song? Can we expect a duet of the Kadievi brothers?
– It is possible to make a song together, although it is special. After the end of the video, he told me that he would see if we would work together again. He pulled away a little, but Zhelyazko is like that, he doesn’t like to be on display, unlike his brother. But I told him that we could do a trio with a friend, for example with Orlin Goranov. He replied that he would think. We are yet to find out.
– We see Sasho Kadiev in “Before noon”, “Talents”, as a host of “Icarus”, in the theater, in the cinema, in a video. Igor Markovski suggested that I ask where we will not see him?
“We won’t see him … Haha.” Well, we won’t see him in opera singing. Unless he makes gypsy wheels. You will not see Sasho Kadiev in many other places. For example, in the office from 9 to 17 hours. You will not see him play sports. Does not love. You will not see him in the gym.
– Quite by accident we heard before the interview with Elin Rakhnev, who wonders how you manage to do all that I listed above?
– Indeed, in this pandemic, people complain that they do not have a job, and for me the opposite is true. Well, I manage somehow. I’m very exhausted. This is the price I pay. I become very irritable with others. When I get tired, I start arguing with the people around me, I make styles… Byrne out, as they say. I get there. But I succeed. I get up, go to bed, lead, play, sing. When I get home, I realize the words of Balzac, who also worked tirelessly and drank 50 coffees a day. He says: I will die anyway, if it is from work or something else, I prefer it to be from work.
– Would you do a duet with your mother Kateto Evro – we are talking about music, because you have already done art?
– Ha, well, maybe, but it must be something comedic. We are both not singers. She is musical, but she can’t sing. Me too. But maybe some sketch with it, more recitative. Not a bad idea.
– But she played the role of a singer brilliantly in “Orchestra without a name”. In fact, what role would you play in this classic?
– Maybe Pavel Popandov or Velko Kanev, I like it very much. Joreto Mamalev too. Still, I think that Velko Kanev will suit me best.
– We use the moment that you are in front of a large audience in Plovdiv. First, are you playing a comedy in town?
– Yes, we have a show again in June. It’s called “I, the annoyance”, we play together with Marian Bachev. We will be in Plovdiv on June 13. We have been playing it for several years now, the staging is very funny. I am looking forward to Plovdiv.
– The association that challenges Plovdiv in you. Outside the upcoming production?
-Warm, coziness, delicious food and wonderful audience. I really like this city.
– A little politics – has culture helped enough in this pandemic?
– First, here the theaters were still open, unlike in Europe. From this point of view in Bulgaria it is much better. But at least from what I’ve noticed, culture is never a priority for our politicians. Yes, money is given for this or that. But there is no complete vision. Something to build on for years to come. Ministers and governments are changing, and there is no unified strategy. It can be much better because we are really good at what we do. I’m talking about all artists. We are good and this thing must be supported. And not just because we have to eat something that is one on hand. And so that the culture can reach the audience not only in our country, but also in Europe. And why not in the world! Not enough is being invested in the promotion of Bulgarian culture.
– A new government, a new Minister Minekov, who boldly promised to change things in two months?
– Sounds ambitious to me too. Let’s see! Let’s play one word game – whoever believes the other first, loses. But hopefully!
– He is a man of culture, and his wife is your man – an artist (BA: Anna Valchanova, daughter of the genius Rangel Valchanov)?
“Let’s really see.” I hope there is more money for culture. Because at the moment colleagues have to survive on a salary of BGN 600 each. Cant happen. Nowhere! Not only in the theater. Yes, these people are dedicated to art. They say: yes, we will starve, but we will live as we want. These people need help, they deserve it.
