Switzerland succeeds in the final rehearsal for the World Cup. One day after the 3-0 victory, the team of coach Patrick Fischer also wins the second test match in Riga against Latvia, this time 2-1.
Dario Simion put the Swiss in the lead after just 55 seconds; the Zug striker had already scored twice on Friday. The preparatory work was done by EVZ team-mate Gregory Hofmann, who was responsible for the winning goal after Martins Dzierkalis (37th) equalized in the 55th minute with four against three field players.
The tour after 20 minutes was absolutely fine. The Swiss again showed a strong first third. After that, however, the guests expressed some effort to get good chances. In this respect, it was not without a certain logic that the 2: 1 outnumbered.
The warm-up was also played by the NHL players Nico Hischier, Timo Meier, Philipp Kuraschew and Jonas Siegenthaler, who had arrived in Riga a few hours earlier. Fischer and Co. will now reduce the roster by four players.
The Swiss will tackle the World Cup unbeaten, having already won the two tests against Russia (3: 1 and 1: 0). The first World Cup opponent is the Czech Republic next Saturday. Before that, there is a two-day isolation, during which the hotel room is not allowed to be left.
