A murder investigation has been started after the discovery of a dead man in an apartment in Trondheim. One person has been charged but will not be questioned on Saturday.

The police in Trøndelag reported Twitter about a suspicious death Saturday morning. On Saturday afternoon, they send a press release that they are investigating the case as murder.

– We have an idea of ​​who he is, and expect that we will be one hundred percent clear during the afternoon or evening, says police attorney Hans Vang to Adressa about the victim’s identity on Saturday night.

At 9.50 pm, the police state that they have been able to identify the deceased, and that relatives have been notified and taken care of. The deceased will probably be autopsied during the evening.

A man in his 50s has been arrested in the case. He has not been questioned on Saturday, due to his health situation, the police say.

– We will make a new attempt tomorrow, says prosecutor Hans Vang in the press release.

– Even though we have gone to an arrest today, we are still investigating the case broadly. Work is in full swing on technical investigations, questioning of witnesses, and the deceased will most likely be autopsied tonight, Vang adds.

The apprehended person has not yet been questioned. The police will decide on possible custody “during the weekend”.

– The apprehended person was in the apartment when the police arrived. There was no drama related to the arrest, the prosecutor in the police, Hans Vang, explained to VG later Saturday afternoon. The accused lives in the home where the deceased was found, says operations manager Frode Tystad to Adressa.

Vang then stated that the police at that time could not comment further on the circumstances surrounding the murder, the course of events or whether weapons have been seized in the investigation.

VG’s photographer on the spot has observed a few drops of blood on the stairs into the scene. Forensic scientists have taken samples of these on Saturday. An area around the crime scene with an estimated four housing units has been cordoned off.
