Starting in July of this year, Havana will be able to release the buses manufactured in Colombia, the government of Japan, decided to donate to Cuba.
The details of the donation were announced by the Economic-Commercial Counselor of the Cuban representation in Japan, Katia Monzón, and Takuma Momoi, an official of JICS (Japan International Cooperation System), who reviewed the execution of the donations corresponding to tranches 3 and 4 of the Non-Refundable Financial Aid from the Japanese government to Cuba.
According to the information published on the Facebook account of the Cuban Embassy in Japan, the delivery consists of a group of buses for Havana, whose purpose will be to improve public passenger transportation.
The 84 vehicles corresponding to the donation have been manufactured in Colombia and should arrive in the Greater Antilles between the months of July and September of this year. However, the maintenance team for these media must leave Japan on the 26th of this month and arrive in Cuba on July 18.
The news from the Cuban Embassy specifies that the execution of the Japanese donation in a fourth tranche is proceeding according to the agreed schedule.
It should be noted that this delivery is part of a series of agreements signed between Cuba and Japan in 2018. For this date, some documents were made official that include the granting of individual donations, aimed at improving the electricity service and the acquisition of buses for the urban transport.
At that time, the representatives of the Cuban government Antonio Luis Carricarte, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, signed the agreement and, on the Japanese side, the ambassador of that nation in Havana, Kazuhiro Fujimura.
The first of the agreed documents approved the granting of a donation for the implementation of the Project to improve the energy supply in the Isle of Youth, for a value of 2,392 million Japanese yen.
Likewise, another document was signed for a donation of 1,050 million Japanese yen for the purchase of urban buses for the capital as part of the Economic and Social Development Program.
Everything has been part of the agreements between the two allied regimes of Cuba and Japan, to “promote diplomatic and commercial relations in the last three years,” explained the official media of both countries.
