  • UNSJ and INTA will dictate Diploma and Extension Course in Irrigation

From next May 17, the Faculty of Engineering of the UNSJ and the San Juan Agricultural Experiment Station of the INTA, will dictate a Diploma in Irrigation and Fertilization for the provision of services, aimed at professionals.

The theoretical classes will be virtual and the practices will be carried out in the field of the integrated unit in compliance with health protocols. For those who are not graduates of undergraduate careers, the alternative of an extension course on the same subject with lower academic requirements is offered.

Graduates will have knowledge that will allow them to offer services to producers and contribute to improving the efficiency of agriculture in San Juan.

  • Horticultural production for local sale in Angaco

The group “Unidos por Angaco”, from Costa de Vargas, is made up of 30 families that this Autumn – Winter season, jointly start an experience of horticultural production for local sale.

The 20 women and 15 young men and adults who make up the group have been working together for two years, making their gardens at the family level and jointly preparing bread, sauce and sweets.

On this occasion, with the objective of self-sufficiency and sale of surpluses, they decided to organize their production in a community manner in 1.5 ha., Which they would commercialize through different strategies and sales spaces.

The first meeting of the season was destined to plan production, support and training activities. “Unidos por Angaco” thus joins the Local Project for “Marketing and organization of Family, Peasant and Indigenous Agriculture of the San Juan OASIS” carried out by an inter-institutional team, coordinated by the San Martin Extension Agency. The objective of the Project is to support local food marketing instance and develop local markets in pursuit of food security and sovereignty.

  • Agroecological garden and educational farm on “Animal Day”

Last Thursday, April 29, on the occasion of celebrating the “Animal Day” and within the framework of the activities carried out by the Municipality of Rivadavia, the educational farm was opened, it has an Agroecological garden, work carried out by the staff of the Faunístico jointly with the Pocito Rural Extension Agency of INTA, through the Pro Huerta Program, and the extensionist Carina Martini who participated in the execution and trained the staff in different issues related to the orchard.
