Queen Margrethe, Christian’s grandmother, was also present, but she cannot be seen in the photos. Princess Marie and Prince Joachim, Christian’s aunt and uncle, and their children were unable to attend the ceremony due to the measures.
Some of Christian’s aunts, uncles and cousins, who live in London and Australia, also had to stay at home. His godparents, Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the Norwegian Crown Prince couple Haakon and Mette-Marit were also unable to come to Denmark for confirmation.
The church at Fredensborg Palace was decorated with flowers on the occasion of the confirmation. The decoration was inspired by the Danish forests. Flowering lilacs, long branches of lime trees and hydrangeas in baskets and beech trees adorned the altar.
The ceremony was led by Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen and took place in the chapel at Fredensborg Palace, where Christian’s father Crown Prince Frederik and Queen Margrethe were also confirmed. Prince Christian is the eldest child of Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary.
