Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria answered a number of criticisms of policy prohibition of pilgrimage grave during the Lebaran holiday, May 12-16, 2021.
Riza emphasized this policy so that there would be no crowds that could potentially spread the corona virus (Covid-19).
“The policy for the temporary closure of the funeral until Sunday is intended to prevent crowds, because we know that the pilgrimage to the graves in this Eid season is very busy,” said Riza in her upload via @arizapatria on Instagram, Saturday (15/5).
According to Riza, the funeral has the potential to become a crowd place this Eid season. Moreover, according to him, usually those who make pilgrimages start from grandparents to grandchildren.
“There can be a potential crowd that can eventually infect,” he said.
Previously, Head of DKI Jakarta Regional Management of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU), Syamsul Ma’arif, assessed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government does not understand about the grave pilgrimage which is part of Betawi culture. According to Syamsul, grave pilgrimages are better regulated and monitored than prohibited.
Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Trustees Fadli Zon also criticized the policy. He then asked DKI to participate in closing malls in Jakarta.
Fadli questioned Anies’ reason for prohibiting residents from performing the grave pilgrimage. He touched on justice in the policy.
Responding to a number of criticisms, Riza admitted that malls and shopping centers are also potential crowds. However, he confirmed that so far in the mall, there are regulations on capacity limitation.
“Indeed, malls and others also have the potential to crowd, it’s just been limited, the entry of tourism places is limited to 30 percent and online,” said Riza.
“If you can do eggak in the grave online, it is difficult to limit it. That’s why closing is the best option,” he added.
Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan prohibited residents from making grave pilgrimages to the cemetery during the Idul Fitri holidays. The ban was implemented on May 12-16.
Anies said the same ban was applied to all graves in Jabodetabek. New residents may visit the grave starting Monday (17/5).
