The lawyer for the newspaper El Nacional, Juan Garantón, affirmed that the embargo measure applied against the headquarters of the newspaper by orders of the regime is an act that lacks legality due to the fact that on Monday, May 10, an appeal for constitutional review was introduced before the magistrates of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, which was ratified this Friday.
“Today I introduced the physical document requesting precautionary measures for the newspaper, the magistrates must rule ipso facto because this is an abuse of authority, it is a punishable act,” he said.
The lawyer denounced that the process carried out by the Bolivarian National Guard did not have the endorsement of a representative of the Supreme Court of Justice.
“It is not however. It is taken by force. There is not a judge here, nor a lawyer with a letter notifying the process. Here the National Guard arrived and took over the building, taking out all the people who worked, who made their lives here, ”he explained.
On the other hand, he reported that since 2015 the headquarters of El Nacional has been prohibited from recording and transferring without any bond, arbitrarily requested by the plaintiff’s lawyer.
“They haven’t even told us about the blessed reasonable period of time to raise the nearly $ 14 million. That lapse has not occurred, it has not even started to run, no judge has not contacted. This is an abuse of authority ”, he sentenced.
On Friday night, the dictatorship ordered the illegal seizure of the headquarters of El Nacional in response to the lawsuit imposed by Diosdado Cabello for alleged moral damage.
