Microsoft brings “cinema gaming” to the Xbox

Microsoft is currently testing a new function for the Xbox, so that ‘cinema gaming’ can soon be rolled out widely.

Not that you can play games in the cinema, they are still just as dense because of corona. Even after corona, you cannot sit in a room with your Xbox and connect it to the screen. No, Microsoft is testing Dolby Vision HDR gaming. Much better picture!

Dolby Vision HDR- gaming op je Xbox

Testers inside Xbox Insiders already noted in March that Microsoft was testing this for a few games. Namely for Borderlands 3, Gears 5 and Halo: Master Chief Collection. Microsoft says Dolby Vision provides more vivid colors, sharper contrast and up to 40 times brighter highlights for games. It automatically adjusts the image settings on your screen. The company also says it has partnered with Dolby to create an enhancement that “enables a more accurate HDR gaming experience when connected to a Dolby Vision compatible TV.”

Testing

The company is now in testing and this will be extended to the Xbox Series X / S. The feature will be soon made available in the Xbox Insider Alpha ring for more members of the Xbox community to try. This goes Microsoft (hopefully) get a lot of feedback, which can make the feature even better. The two companies are working with TV manufacturers to optimize the Dolby Vision experience on as many screens as possible before rolling it out to everyone.

Are you already in the Insider Alpha program and do you want to test it? Then you have to make sure that the latest firmware is on your TV. This will probably also allow you to use the functions. Such as the automatic mode with low latency and a variable refresh rate.
