Bill Gates and Melinda Ann French announced the breakdown of their marriage, after 27 years together. The couple has a shared fortune of 145,000 million dollars, almost 9% of the total of the Gross Domestic Product of Mexico in 2020. Among its assets is the participation of Gates with 8% of the shares of Grupo Televisa, according to the annual report of the company for 2020, reviewed by Francisco Vidal Bonifaz. The Azcárraga family, headed by Emilio Azcárraga Jean, is the largest shareholder in the company, with 15.1%, followed by Dodge & Cox (10.8%) and Harris Associates (10.7%). Gates is the fourth largest holder of Televisa shares. The dissolution of Bill and Melinda’s marriage may alter the shareholding composition of the Mexican company.
