It is ten to twelve on Friday morning when the police receive the message ‘stabbing Bitterstraat Zwolle’. It is immediately clear that it is a serious crime. A 30-year-old man, also from Zwolle, is arrested a few hours later in Park de Wezenlanden as a suspect.

Maureen de Vries from Zwolle is one of the many people along the red and white barrier tape that is stretched from the Pannenkoekendijk towards the Bitterstraat, all the way around the place where the stabbing took place. The atmosphere has been left and rumors soon start circulating. For example, the victim would still have moved his hand when the emergency services arrived.
