Leaks of Yamaha’s New Motor Sport Launching May 18, 2021

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Yamaha sure will launch motor sport only on May 18, 2021. The strong suspicion is that the tuning fork will launch Yamaha YZF-R7, the successor motorbike of the YZF-R6, which was officially killed in 2020.

This was revealed after Yamaha released a second teaser video entitled ‘R/World is within your reach, 18/05/21‘which was uploaded to Yamaha Motor Europe’s official Youtube account recently.

The 28-second video has been watched by more than 40 thousand and received various comments from netizens. Not a few also mentioned that the new motorbike was the YZF-R7.

In this teaser video, Yamaha gives a little idea about the appearance of its newest motorbike. It doesn’t show in detail, but you can see the silhouette of the headlights with a narrow design exactly the Yamaha R-Series family.

There is a kind of Daytime Running Light (DRL) as a sweetener and underneath there is a main lamp that already uses LED technology.

If it is true that the Yamaha YZF-R7 is officially launched, then this motorbike is positioned as a middle class big sport fairing. Rumors are circulating, the YZF-R7 will pack a different engine from the R6 with a 4-cylinder engine, but will use a 2-cylinder configuration. 4-stroke, DOHC, 8-valve, berkubikasi 689 cc.

The machine uses a platform from an existing motorbike, the Yamaha MT-07. Naked sport is known to be violent about torque and lower engine pull.

The plan is for the new Yamaha motor sport to be launched virtually at 15:00 CEST (Central European Summer Time) or West Indonesia time around 20:00.

Yamaha officially stopped production of the YZF-R6 for the American and European markets after this motorbike failed to pass the Euro 5 regulatory test and sales of the full fairing sports motorbike in Europe weakened.

Although it is no longer sold to general consumers, Yamaha will continue to sell the R6 until the unit is sold out. However, the R6 unit that is sold is specifically for the race track, which has been equipped with a number of racing parts and cannot be used on the highway.

This motorbike is one of Yamaha’s icons in the 600 cc sport fairing segment. It competed with the Honda CBR600RR, Suzuki GSX 600, and several other models.

In terms of engine, this motorbike has a mechanical heart that is somewhat fierce. The Deltabox-type frame features a DOHC, forward-inclined parallel 4-cylinder, 4-valve, 600cc engine, which has a maximum power of 123.7 hp at 14,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 65.7 Nm at 10,500 rpm.

This motorbike is also equipped with various advanced features. Starting from Traction Control, Quick Shift System, Power Modes, Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T), to Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-I) technology.

Could the Yamaha YZF-R7 be able to continue the success of the YZF-R6? We’ll just wait, including the possibility that it will be marketed for Indonesia.
