Earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 7.2 rocked Nias, North Sumatra, this afternoon. This earthquake was felt strong enough to reach Padang, West Sumatra.
“The earthquake was swinging and it was quite a long time,” said Rahma, a resident of Padang.
Lindu is strong enough not only in the city of Padang. People living in the cities of Padang Panjang and Tanah Datar were also feeling strong enough.
BMKG noted that the earthquake occurred at 13:33:07 WIB, with a location of 0.10 North Latitude (LU) and 96.53 East Longitude (BT) at a position of 141 km southwest of West Nias, with a depth of 19 kilometers.
Until now, there has been no report on the impact of the damage caused by the earthquake.
BMKG urges the public to remain calm and not be affected by issues that cannot be justified.
