The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is a comprehensive multi-site arts center located in Seymour. The center was made possible by the generosity of local singer, songwriter and artist, John Mellencamp.
Gallery
It features rotating exhibits by various artists and is the world’s only public display of a private collection of John Mellencamp paintings.
Performing arts amphitheater
It hosts many concerts and other theatrical productions throughout the year, including Friday Night Live during the summer months.
Craft and Pottery Barn
Visitors can learn to “toss a pot” during this unique experience.
The Conner Museum of Antique Printing
A working printing house of 19th century vintage presses. A “hands-on” timeline along the wall allows the visitor to travel through the history of the written and printed word from the caveman’s stone tablet to lithography. You will see how our written language developed from the symbols of prehistoric man to the language of Egyptian hieroglyphic images. They will follow the writing instruments to the printing methods of Johannes Gutenberg. Visitors can even take home examples of the Gutenberg type. Group outings are encouraged.
