Processes – Cologne:Judgment against Siegaue rapists expected

Cologne (dpa / lnw) – In the arson trial against the so-called Siegaue rapist, the verdict is expected on Friday (11 a.m.) in the Cologne district court. According to the indictment, the 35-year-old is said to have deliberately set fire to his cell in the prison in Cologne. A prison officer and a fellow prisoner suffered smoke inhalation and the accused himself was seriously injured. In addition, the public prosecutor’s office accuses him of attacks on prison officials.
The rejected asylum seeker from Ghana is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for particularly serious rape and blackmail. The legally convicted man had attacked a young couple camping in Bonn’s Siegaue in 2017, threatened them with a pruning saw and raped the woman.
In their plea for the arson, the public prosecutor’s office requested that the ten-year prison sentence be increased by two years. The defense demanded acquittal in relation to the arson.
