In the series “I am…” Ilze Jansone’s novel “The Bill of Time” was published in 1941. Ilzas Šķipsna (1928–1981), the author of the first Latvian modern novel, traveler, polyglot, anthropologist and librarian, informed the representatives of the publishing house “Dienas grāmata”. –
“The expression of reality. What is it? The humble presence of content and form in life and art. A delicate and amazing incarnation in the short flight of the writer Ilze Šķipsna. Appearances, power and fame are foreign to the pinch. Ilze Jansone helps to discover how rich life is without them, ”said Gundega Repše, a writer and author and initiator of the project“ I am… ”.
Journalist Gundeg Blumberga admitted that Jansone in the novel sharply reveals the exile’s desire to be at home: scales in the golden skin of an artificial dragon, and at the same time to keep the spark of survival, dreaming of a crown of acorns. The fate of a whole generation in the life of one writer. “
Ilze Jansone (1982) made her literary debut in 2006 with the short story “Beyond the Glass”. So far, three novels have been published: “Insomnia” (2010), “The Only One” (2015), “Men’s Affairs” (2020) and a collection of stories “Umurkumur or Farewell to Feminism” (2013). Graduated from the University of Latvia with a doctorate in theology and religious studies.
The book has been created with the support of the State Cultural Capital Fund. The artist of the book is Jānis Esītis.
